The 39-year-old's lawyer telling the hearing "his position is that he admits to a terrorist crime and accepts therefore that he will be detained." A judge remanding Akilov in custody. On Friday (April 7) a hijacked beer delivery truck hurtled down a busy shopping street before crashing into a department store. The rampage killing four people - two Swedes, one British citizen and one Belgian. 15 others were injured. Police believe Akilov was the driver. He was arrested just hours after the attack. The Uzbek man already wanted for failing to comply with a deportation order. Security services say he had expressed sympathies with extremist organisations, among them Islamic State, but hadn't been viewed as a militant threat. The attack has seen an outpouring of grief in the Nordic nation. But immigrants fear it's set to test the country's reputation as Europe's most welcoming nation to asylum seekers. Fearing reprisals, Sweden's Security Police have set aside resources to track domestic extremists. Politicians taking a defiant stance, saying Sweden will remain an open, tolerant society.
