The aftermath of a suicide bomb attack on a NATO convoy in Afghanistan's capital Kabul. Eight civilians were killed and at least 25 wounded in the explosion during morning rush-hour. Emergency services swarming the scene near the U.S. embassy, one of the busiest areas of the city. The convoy of armoured personnel carriers is used by the NATO-led Resolute Support mission. A spokesman says three U.S. service members were wounded. But the vehicles they were travelling in are designed to withstand large blasts and returned to a coalition base under their own power. A number of civilian vehicles were destroyed or badly damaged in the bombing. The attack follows a threat by the Taliban to target foreign forces in the spring offensive it launched last week.
