Spanish police have rescued a man held captive by an eastern European crime gang for two weeks, police officials said after staging a raid in central Spain last week. The man, a Serbian-Croatian who holds Dutch nationality and whose identity was not immediately available, was abducted by a group of men wearing fake police vests in mid June as he was driving home in the Catalonian town of Lloret de Mar. The man's family had received a ransom demand of 1.5 million euros after the kidnapping, police said. Although the exact date of the rescue operation is not known, police confirmed it took place in the town of Casarrubios del Monte, near Toledo.
