ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. War-torn Maronite cathedral in Aleppo opened its doors for a classical concert for the first time in over five years on Tuesday evening (July 11). Since 2012, the cathedral, along with other large parts of the Syrian city, have been devastated by fighting between rebels and government forces. Fighting ended in the city in December 2016 after rebel fighters and civilians left under a ceasefire agreement. But the battle of Aleppo, one of the worst of Syria's civil war, destroyed much of the cathedral's roof and walls. Organisers decked the cathedral's interior with lights, decorations and hundreds of seats for the performance of Mozart's Mass of C Minor.
