NFL players defiant after Trump's boycott remarks

NFL players kneel during the national anthem on Sunday in the first game since President Trump called on fans to boycott teams that do no discpline players who protest. Linda So reports.

In a clear rebuke to U.S. President donald trump, more than a dozen teammates from the Jacksonville Jaguars taking a knee during the Star-Spangled Banner before their football game on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens at Wembley Stadium in London. It was their answer to the president, who called on NFL owners to fire athletes who protest the national anthem. SOUNDBITE: PRESIDENT TRUMP, SAYING: ".... SOB." THE PRESIDENT MAKING THOSE COMMENTS AT A RALLY FRIDAY NIGHT. HE FOLLOWED WITH TWEETS OVER THE WEEKEND AND INTO SUNDAY MORNING, AS 28 NFL CLUBS GOT READY TO PLAY. TRUMP CALLING ON FANS TO BOYCOTT THE LEAGUE IF TEAM OWNERS REFUSED TO PENALIZE PROTESTING PLAYERS. FORMER SAN FRANCISCO 49-ER COLIN KAEPERNICK STIRRED CONTROVERSY LAST YEAR WHEN HE REFUSE TO STAND FOR THE ANTHEM. HE SAID HE DID SO IN PROTEST OF POLICE SHOOTINGS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS. OTHER ATHLETES FOLLOWED SUIT. TRUMP'S ATTACKS ON THE LEAGUE DRAWING CONDEMNATION FROM OWNERS AND EVEN THE NFL'S COMMISSIONER, DEFENDING THE PLAYERS' RIGHTS AS U.S. CITIZENS AND THE TEAMS' COMMITMENT TO POSITIVE CHANGE. IT'S NOT JUST FOOTBALL: NBA players also struck back after Trump tweeted that he was rescinding a White House invitation to Steph Curry, the two-time MVP for the champion Golden State Warriors. Curry and his teammate responding to the president's disinvite. SOUNDBITE: STEPHEN CURRY, SAYING: "Just kind of beneath a leader of a country to go that route. It's not what leaders do." SOUNDBITE: DRAYMOND GREEN, SAYING: "It's for calling every player who took a knee a son of a (bleeped), it's like, huh? Like, we're talking, That don't even make sense to me." Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James came to Curry's defense calling the president a "bum" on Twitter.
