Hunt for suspect in rookie Pennsylvania cop killing

A search is underway for a man believed to have shot and killed a rookie Pennsylvania police officer during a traffic stop on Friday. Linda So reports.

25-year-old Brian Shaw had been a police officer for less than six months when he was shot and killed by a gunman Friday night. SOUNDBITE: JIM KLEIN, NEW KENSINGTON POLICE CHIEF, SAYING: "We will find you. We will arrest you, and we will prosecute you so that you are held accountable for what has occurred." Police say the rookie officer -- who worked for the New Kensington Police Department, a suburb near Pittsburgh -- had pulled over Rahmael Sal Holt during a traffic stop. The suspect got out of his car and ran. SOUNDBITE: JIM KLEIN, NEW KENSINGTON POLICE CHIEF, SAYING: "At some point during the foot pursuit, shots were fired." Officer Shaw was shot in the chest. He was wearing a bulletproof vest, but died. The suspect has a lengthy criminal record including drug and firearm convictions. A reward of up to $43,500 has been offered for information leading to his arrest. Shaw will be laid to rest on Wednesday.
