INSIGHT: UK unites for Armistice Day remembrance

Posted

People across the United Kingdom paid tribute in Armistice Day events on Saturday (November 11) to those killed fighting for their country. As Big Ben struck 11 o'clock in London, people at The Cenotaph - the capital's war memorial - fell silent for two minutes, an act repeated up and down the country. Held at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Armistice Day initially marked the end of World War One in 1918, in which more than 700,000 British servicemen lost their lives.
