Pentagon hampered Capitol riot response -U.S. official

General William Walker, the commanding general of the D.C. National Guard, told senators on Wednesday that he received a letter from then-Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy the day before the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol with an "unusual" restriction from deploying any service members without his explicit approval.
